Athletics

Sound in Spirit and Body

For Mountain Area Christian Academy, athletics involves more than mere physical conditioning  and fun. Through athletic competition and practice, students can learn cooperation, strategy, leadership, and duty. Under the pressure of competition, in the test of both victory or defeat, they will have the opportunity to both exhibit and develop perseverance, self-control, self-sacrifice, and humility. And wherever they may learn these virtues and disciplines—whether in the classroom, the chapel, or the gymnasium—you can be sure these lessons will carry on with them long into the future. For MACA, athletics is just one more way we hope to prepare our students in their whole person for all of life.

Athletics Association

Mountain Area Christian Academy is a member of the Georgia Christian Athletic Association (GCAA) as a Class A school in region one.

        Our Principles

The motto and guiding principle of MACA athletics is  “doing our best as we strive for excellence.” We believe Scripture commands  us as Christians to always do our best. As believers, we are not to waste the talent God has given us by anything less than full commitment through participation and our best effort. And our best effort should always be growing toward excellence. Striving to be the best, whether it be a National Merit Scholar or a state champion in basketball, is a worthy and admirable goal of any Christian. Being the best may not always be possible for us, but doing our best always is! When an athlete can come to the point of not playing for the fans in the stands, parents, or the coach, but for the Lord Jesus Christ, that is winning, regardless of the score.
